In respect of our Anzac's - solo camp trip to Marrangaroo NP
#stresslesscampmore !
This little short trip is in memory and respect of our diggers, the past, the current and the future men and women who risk their lives and sometimes pay the ultimate price for this wonderful country our ours. So #lestweforget on this special day.
Marrangaroo National Park is quite close to home and seemed the ideal place to go for the Anzac Day long weekend for a solo camp. I also wanted to dedicate this episode to my dear old mate Doug, our 16 year old #poundrescue We sadly lost him on Good Friday 2024 and even though it's not that long since he passed away, not a day goes by that he doesn't remind us of him.
So just me, my thoughts and my fond memories of the best little dog we've ever owned.
In loving memory,
Doug 💓💓

    the concern is where that broken bit go would pull the manifold off and check it's not lodged in the intake system just waiting to enter the engine and cause catastrophic damage

    • @4WheelingInNSW
      @4WheelingInNSW 8 днів тому

      No thank goodness, it was all good ... That was my first panic thought too. I think by their design, that can't happen as the piece ( the little round flap ) is on the "outside" of the vertical shaft that holds it so it can't actually get passed the shaft and then into the inlet manifold. It's not on the inlet side of the vertical shaft thank goodness.

    • @coadyg
      @coadyg 8 днів тому

      @4WheelingInNSW if you did not find it I would be concerned that it is sitting possibly inhibited from entering the engine by valve clearance but eventually may damage the valve or enter the engine. For piece of mind I would remove the manifold and put magnet telescope into each valve port clean manifold while you in there. Just saying. On the blanking bit if you doing reasonable distances and not short trips it would be fine just don't do the catch can thing I believe that is the big killer.

    • @4WheelingInNSW
      @4WheelingInNSW 7 днів тому

      @@coadyg no the bit came out, I physically had it in my hand which I showed in the video, looks like a brass 20c coin or a washer. It definitely came out so that was one good thing. I do 100 k’s each day to and from work plus all my weekend driving / camping etc so racking up the k’s is no issue. Funny you say about the catch can being bad in the engine because everyone else that I speak to or read about say the catch can saved the engine - stopping all the oily sooty crap getting back in the engine. That’s what I mean, there’s so many conflicting stories on catch cans and blanking EGR’s.

      I bought one of those blanking plates when I first bought the ute however after then reading online and researching it a fair bit, it seems that blanking them off can then lead to other engine issues so I never progressed with it. It's a catch 22 with those things.

    What a rort! Mate I know the 4wd industry went silly with pricing over covid, but you’ve gotta be kidding. There’s not 30k there. I’m happy to price the sucker out with you. You’ve listed the options in the website. Great little unit! Thoughtful design, wonderful for a single person or couple, but seriously. Sandwich panels aren’t expensive, nor is labour in South Africa.

    • @4WheelingInNSW
      @4WheelingInNSW 11 днів тому

      To be honest, I too did think, initially, they're not cheap however after researching any other products of comparable quality, fit and finish and with the inclusions these come with, they don't seem to badly priced. I wouldn't want to pay that kind of premium price if they were being made very cheaply in the one country that currently produces approx. 40% of the caravans in the Australian market, that's for sure but the South African product seems to be very well built. When you factor in the associated costs to develop it, build it, fit it out and include freight to the other side of the world, I think these are pretty reasonable myself. I know some may compare this up against a much larger van that has more included options, however I think longevity is very important to many people too. And that's where some pricing difference comes in. As you say, they're great for a touring couple, most definitely. Each to their own though and I welcome all feedback so thank you and thanks for tuning in.

    Concept is nice But cannot see the price justifying what you get. I mean, even if it was an "offroad" version (which it is not) the price is still high for what you get. No offence but that's how I see it.

      @4WheelingInNSW 19 днів тому

      No offence taken mate, each to their. Everyone likes and wants something different I guess. Yes they made not be the cheapest out there however I couldn’t argue with the build quality. I like. It to like a Mercedes v a Hyundai i30. Both cars but different quality. And if you look at any other brand of similar build quality in that hybrid / crossover van market, they’re all very similarly priced. There are plenty of cheaper ( and larger ) vans out there however I think the quality may also be significantly cheaper too and their longevity could be questioned. Thanks for watching and for your feedback mate, I sincerely appreciate it, cheers 👍

    Sorry to hear about yur dog mate. Always hard when a member of the family goes even if it is a furry member. Gaia GPS is a brilliant app. So much better than some navigation units you pay big bucks for, VMS cough cough... Marrangaroo is a cracking spot too, we stayed there over Easter and it was amazing. Always grubs leaving rubbish mate but those claws work a treat especially when trying to save the back. Smokey Manuka is delicious but I found the same thing, they go hard and are difficult to use. I had to rip the top off the container to break it up. Shame about the clowns with the fireworks. Recording on the way out can grab a number plate and the boys in blue could have fun with it. It’s actually a lot bigger on the flesh than what shows on camera. The big advantage with this style or type of van is that it’s not ridiculously oversized. It’s light weight and easy to tow and you’re not dragging a 3 tonne Taj Mahal behind you with every conceivable item out of your house. They’re a great setup for a couple touring the country. great video, great compact van, very capable in all offroad conditions this is going to be an Aussie game changer of note, getting more people into a caravan without the extra cost of GVM upgrades and massive tow vehicles.

    I did look at one of these, but it only does one thing, boil water.Spend a couple more dollars, and some similar have a cooktop attachment, so a fry pan can be used also.

    • @4WheelingInNSW
      @4WheelingInNSW 26 днів тому

      Thanks for watching and for the feedback, I'm always interested in what other gear others use out there. I actually grabbed this one purely for boiling water as 99% of my cooking I do on the camp fire. So the extra $100 cost for the bigger brands wasn't worth it for me. I do have another head for my butane cans which will easily sit a kettle or saucepan should the need ever arise however I've not yet ever used it for cooking. Usually when we're out and about and touring the bush, it's the speed of boiling a cuppa that won me over with these little beauties. • @4WheelingInNSW
      @4WheelingInNSW 26 днів тому

      G'day mate, thanks for watching. It was just a generic double din eBay special I picked up cheap but the actual head unit was pretty ordinary ... it kept freezing and crashing all the time so I got rid of it and ended up picking up the original Garmin / Suzuki double din from an upgraded model which has all the bells and whistle including Bluetooth, reverse camera etc. The cheap head unit was very poor after a few weeks. Thanks Grant. Yes, the demo was not an all out life or death recovery, but certainly illustrated the method. I'm a little more provisional about supporting Australian manufacturers. It the price and quality are comparable then yes, choose Australian made. Anything short of that though and we encouraging overpriced, low quality crap local manufacturing. We, Australians, are not incapable of dodgy brothers business - there are a few examples around of such poor corporate behaviour that have been publicised over the past couple of years.
